Anamorphoses, 1981-96

The large, black and white screen prints of Anamorphoses I-IV (1981-97), consisting of forms depicted from a distorted perspective, were based on the photographs taken of cutting up and shredding the monumental crumpled paintings displayed at an exhibition in Bordeaux, 1981. Hantai reproduced certain details of the colour photographs taken from a horizontal view of the frameless canvases lying on the floor by creating vertical lines. The screen prints that disorder vision, space and depiction while definitely simplifying painting practices reflect on the history of painting and Hantai's oeuvre, without canvas or colours, over the ruins of painted pictures. - Agnes Berecz

Az Anamorphoses I-IV (1981-97) fekete-fehér, perspektivikusan torzított formákból álló, nagyméretű szitanyomatai az 1981-ben Bordeaux-ban kiállított monumentális gyűrt képek feldarabolása és szétvágása közben készített fényképekre épülnek. A földön heverő, vakráma nélküli vásznakról készített vízszintes nézetű színes fotók egy-egy részletét Hantai függőleges sorokba állítva reprodukálta. A látás, a tér és az ábrázolás rendjét kibillentő és a festés gyakorlatát végleg leegyszerűsítő nyomatok a festészet és Hantai életművének a történetéről gondolkodnak vászon és színek nélkül, a festett képek romjain. - Berecz Ágnes
